Jigokudani National Park in the freezing far north of Japan is famous for its beautiful macaques (ma-kaks) – also known as snow monkeys.
Back in the 1960s, one group of curious macaques realized they could keep warm by bathing in one of the park’s many natural hot springs. They loved it so much they have been doing it ever since, and now they hardly ever want to get out!
